Where the borders of Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa meet lies Mashatu, one of the brightest gems in Botswana’s safari landscape. Known affectionately as the Land of Giants, Mashatu represents the very essence of Africa’s wild spaces. This 42,000-hectare privately owned reserve forms part of the vast Northern Tuli Game Reserve, a remote, unpopulated wilderness shaped by the confl uence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers.

Mashatu’s extraordinary landscape features undulating mopane woodlands, expansive plains, towering sandstone ridges, and sweeping blue skies.

Its diverse ecosystems support Africa’s largest elephant population on privately owned land and offer some of the finest leopard viewing on the continent. The reserve is also home to lion, cheetah, hyena, and abundant plains game including eland, wildebeest, zebra, impala, and bushbuck. With more than 360 bird species recorded, Mashatu is a paradise for birders and photographers alike, delivering one of the highest photographic success rates anywhere in Africa.

As a private reserve, Mashatu ensures an exclusive safari experience with limited vehicles at sightings and expert guides who position you perfectly, and respectfully, for intimate wildlife encounters.
